We meticulously captured the essence of this vintage upright piano over an intensive two-day recording and sampling session. Employing state-of-the-art studio preamps and premium microphones, we preserved both the exquisite sound and rich history embedded within each note.
ABOUT JAMES
Owner of Altamira’s Vintage Fischer Upright Piano from 1900
With a passion for crafting diverse records, this James has collaborated with an impressive array of artists, including Jamie xx, Dirty Projectors, Alex Cameron, and more.
In January 2022, he co-founded Altamira Sound, a two-room recording facility located in a 3800sf warehouse in Alhambra, alongside partners Rob Shelton, Carly Bond, and Andrew Maguire. Grounded in a jazz background, they honed their performance and composition skills under the guidance of Mark Dresser and Marty Ehrlich.
Boasting a decade-long stint as a staff engineer at Tiny Telephone Studios in the Bay Area, they’ve produced numerous records. Beyond their technical prowess, they are a versatile musician, proficient in various instruments, and skilled in crafting string and woodwind arrangements.
